Press Release: APSC Combined Competitive (Prel.) Examination, 2016





Guwahati the 24th June. 2017: A Briefing & Interactive Session of Nodal Officers (Addl Deputy Commissioners) was held today in room no.303 of Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, Guwahati-22 in connection with the conduct of the ensuing C.C.(P) Exam., 2016 to be held on 02.07.2017 (Sunday) which was presided over by Dr A.K. Roy, IAS (Retd.), Hon'ble Chairman (I/C), APSC, where Shri Dhruba Hazarika, IAS (Retd.), Shri Dipak Kr Sarma, IAS (Retd.), Hon'ble Members, APSC, the representatives of DGP, Assam, Chairman cum MD, APDCL, Chief Post Master General, Assam Circle, Commissioner & Secretary, Govt. of Assam, Finance Department and Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Addl DCs of 22 districts HQs, including the resource person Shri TM Sarmah, ACS (Retd), Ex APSC Secretary, the Secretary, the Principal Controller of Exams and other officers and staff of the Commission were person.

Shri Prakash R Gharphalia, ACS, Secretary, APSC gave the welcome address and briefed the gathering about the objectives of the meeting followed by the introductory speech by Dr A.K. Roy, IAS (Retd.), Hon'ble Chairman, APSC. The Hon'ble Chairman outlined that the basic function of the APSC is to select right person for the right job through its various selection processes. Amongst them, the Combined Competitive Examination, conducted for selection to ACS and Allied Services, is the premier examination of the Commission which calls for greater efforts on the part of the district and police administration as well as some other Departments/organizations. This time, APSC is conducting the said examination in 112 examination venues under 22 district HQs where 52,436 candidates are appearing. Although the Commission is taking all out efforts for conducting the examination smoothly and peacefully in all centres, it remains inconclusive without the help and cooperation on the part of the district administration.



 
It was discussed that the examination procedures right from the stage of advertisement are guided by different set rules/instructions for their hassle free implementation. With a view to making all concerned conversant with the rules, regulations and other formalities attached with the said examination, the Secretary, APSC had elaborately deliberated by a power point presentation.

Thereafter, Shri TM Sarmah, ACS (Retd.), former Secretary, APSC through power point presentation highlighted on some of the critical areas viz., misconduct on the part of candidates, role of Nodal Officers (ADCs), duties and responsibilities of Supervisors/invigilators of the venues etc with reference to the provisions of the CCE Rules, 1989. The ADCs present had participated in the discussion to clear their doubts and assured the Commission of smooth conduct of the CCE, 2016.

The Commission lastly stressed the need of help and cooperation and active involvement of all present in the session and hoped that the examination would be conducted smoothly and peacefully.
